“Because we may be small, but we’ve got trivia.”
Welcome to the part of the site where we proudly list things that make Woodland…well, Woodland. These facts may not get us on a postcard or in a travel magazine, but they’re real, they’re ours, and they say a lot about life in this half-square-mile village we call home.
📍 Tiny but Mighty
Woodland is only 0.49 square miles.
You could walk from one end to the other in less time than it takes to reheat leftovers – and you’ll probably pass someone you know while doing it.
🧃 Our Economy Runs on Carbonation
The Woodland Pop Machine is the only for-profit business in town.
It offers 12 drink options, 4 visible labels, and exactly 1 sense of mystery. It’s a cornerstone of local commerce and hydration.
🏢 One Street to Rule Them All
Main Street is our unofficial town square.
It’s home to the post office, fire station, pop machine, and at least two parked trucks that haven’t moved since the Obama administration.
🚒 Big Protection, Small Radius
The Woodland Fire Department protects the entire village – all 0.49 square miles of it.
And it’s right in the middle of town, so help is never more than a few left turns away.
⛪ From Pencils to Pews
Cornerstone Church used to be Woodland Elementary School.
Since 2012, it’s been a church. Before that? It was where people learned long division and played dodgeball. Now it’s where we sing hymns and serve casseroles.
⚰️ Resting Easy on the Edge of Town
Body Cemetery is located just on the outskirts.
It’s peaceful, well-maintained, and frankly one of the most scenic parts of Woodland. Quiet neighbors, too.
🌳 Park Perfection
Village Park has a playground and a pavilion.
It’s where kids go to burn off sugar and adults go to pretend they’re supervising. The picnic tables are sun-faded and reliable – just like Woodland.
🐦 Local Wildlife Includes:
- Two squirrels
- One bold rabbit
- A robin that may or may not be sentient
Bonus sightings include frogs in Sugar Creek and the occasional barn cat with strong opinions.
🚫 No Stoplights
And we’re doing just fine without them.
Traffic here mostly involves waiting for a tractor to turn or waving at someone you’re related to. Probably both.
🌊 Sugar Creek Runs Right Through Town
Adding just the right amount of natural charm, mosquito energy, and slow-moving water drama to our peaceful landscape.
🧍 Everyone Knows Everyone
Whether you grew up here or just married into the right family, chances are good someone knows your middle name. And your birthday. And what time you got your mail last Tuesday.
🤷 So Why Does This All Matter?
Because it’s Woodland – a place that’s small, proud, funny, and full of heart. You won’t find a bowling alley, a movie theater, or a Starbucks… but you will find stillness, friendliness, and a whole lot of good stories.
Fun fact: You’re already halfway through town just by reading this page.
