Cornerstone Church

Once a place for spelling tests, recess drama, and semi-functional pencil sharpeners, the building now known as Cornerstone Church was, until 2012, Woodland Elementary School. Today, it serves a slightly different kind of education – mostly about grace and humility.

You’ll find us just off Main Street, nestled in the heart of Woodland, where chalkboards gave way to hymnals, and the smell of Crayola markers was replaced by freshly brewed fellowship coffee.

📚 From Multiplication Tables to Sunday Sermons

Since making the jump from school to sanctuary, Cornerstone Church has leaned into its new identity – though you can still spot the occasional bulletin board from the 4th grade hallway if you know where to look. The spirit of learning is alive and well, except now it’s less about fractions and more about faith (and whether there’s enough crockpots for the potluck).

And yes – the building still has that faint “elementary school floor wax” smell. We call it character.

🙏 Services That Feel Like Home

Worship kicks off at 9:07 a.m. every Sunday, give or take seven minutes depending on coffee delays and weather gossip. Expect hymns, heartfelt sermons, and that one guy who’s a little too enthusiastic with the tambourine (he means well). It’s laid-back, familiar, and just formal enough to make you rethink wearing your “Star Wars” T-shirt.

Everyone’s welcome – especially if you remember when this place still had recess bells.

🍪 Fellowship Hall: Former Cafeteria, Current Coffee Zone

What used to be the school lunchroom is now the fellowship hall, a cozy spot for warm conversation and lukewarm beverages. It’s where potlucks are born, announcements are made, and someone’s toddler inevitably spills apple juice on your shoe.

The folding chairs are still here, too – some from the school days, some newer, all slightly squeaky.

🪑 The Same Seats, Just With Different Intentions

We don’t assign seats…but we all kind of know where everyone sits. If you’re new, sit anywhere!

Woodland’s Church, Woodland’s History

From spelling tests to scripture, Cornerstone Church is a building that’s seen generations of Woodland residents grow, change, and gather. Since 2012, it’s been more than just repurposed walls – it’s been a place of comfort and reflection.
